Arsenal manager Unai Emery gave fans an insight into the club’s transfer plans,  when he spoke to the media ahead of Cardiff city’s visit to the emirates stadium. He talked about their intentions ahead of the close of the transfer window on Thursday.

They have been linked to  Inter Milan’s Ivan Perisic, Real madrid’s playmaker James Rodriguez who is on loan at Bayern Munich, Yanick Carrasco, Dennis Suarez among others in recent times. However, they have been unable to sign any of their targets. This comes after Emery stated earlier in the month, that arsenal would not be signing any player on a permanent basis this transfer window.

However, he said in his press conference that the club is working on different players, that there are possibilities they will sign two players, and that they might end up not signing any. Arsenal are currently in a injury crisis,  as they have only one fit central defender and they may look to cover up for this before the end of the transfer window on Thursday. This injury setbacks are coming at the back of a win against top four,  and city rivals  Chelsea at the emirates. They will look to  do the same when they face relegation threatened Cardiff city, to increase their chances of finishing in the top four, as the currently lie in fifth place three points below Chelsea.

Reports has it that Emery’s summer budget will depend on whether the club can qualify for the Champions League,  and significantly reduce their wage bill, but Emery insisted he is happy with his squad. He said he could ask for more players because it is the easiest thing for him to do, but he prefers  working with the players he has at is disposal and improving them. He insists he is happy with hisplayers, and they could achieve big performances in the premier league and Europa league.
