Thierry Henry made his MLS leading 9th goal in the 7th minute and then went down with a right hamstring hurt jus after fifteen minutes in the New York Red Bulls’ 1-0 win over the New England Revolution on Saturday.

Red Bulls coach Hans Backe said Henry’s injury is devastating for the team. This means Henry will be out of action for about a month. His guidance in every single practice session is priceless. It is a big loss for the team both on the field as well as and off the field. It will be tough going without at this moment.  The Red Bulls switched to 4-3-1 as a whole and 3-0-1 at home.

Rookie goalie Ryan Meara stopped 5 shots in registering his 1st MLS shutout which comprises of a diving stop on a blast by Lee Nguyen’s in time to defend the score line.

Meara said that each one of them struggled really hard for the match. It was entirely a team effort and they certainly deserved the win. It does not matter who is on the field to play, everyone feels positive and believes that they can end up on the winning side.

New England was defeated for the 4th time and has scored just 5 goals in the entire season.

Henry, who refused to face the media after the match, made an excellent progress to score. He utilized throw in from Connor Lade and tactically played it past Revolution left back player Stephen McCarthy to get through the ball. Henry then snapped a right footed shot over the goalie of New England Matt Reis, who came out of the goal to try and stop Thierry Henry.
