The 22 year old defensive midfielder of Sporting Lisbon, William Carvalho has turned out to be one of the winter targets of Arsenal as the Premier League club is interested in adding talented players in the center of the pitch. It is even believed that Arsenal has already offered the Portuguese team an offer in the region of £20 million as Arsene Wenger wants to sign the young player quickly before another team spots the performer and tries to snatch him.

£37million is the price tag that Sporting Lisbon has on William Carvalho and unless Arsenal makes an improved bid for the young midfielder, it does not look like the Premier League team is going to be signing Carvahlo in the January transfer window as Manchester United is another club in England that has shown in interest in signing the midfielder and have attempted to sign him but have failed on doing as the price tag that Sporting Lisbon desire are simply too high for Manchester United.

However, now that Manchester United is under the guidance of Louis van Gaal and that they have shown their financial capabilities of being able to make a splash in the transfer market after signing Angel Di Maria for more than €50 million as well as also offloading €20 million for Marcos Rojo.

Manchester United has recently been displaying their eagerness to sign quality players in order to strengthen the squad and William Carvalho could be one of the new signings of Louis van Gaal in January but they will face competition from Arsenal.

Injuries is a factor that has always affected the squad of Arsene Wenger and it has forced him on having to play with less talented players on certain matches due to the physical conditions that his main performers are sustaining and William Carvahlo can solve this problem in the midfield department of Arsenal.

Fortunately for Manchester United and Arsenal, William Carvahlo has displayed his interest in making a move to the Premier League as the defensive midfielder wants to join a top club in England.

“I would not say I was disappointed to stay, but despite being very happy at Sporting, we all have ambitions and I hope one day to be playing in the best leagues in the world, the English or Spanish’’ William Carvalho said during an interview which was made a few weeks ago as the midfielder revealed his desire on joining the Spanish or the English League.
