Arsenal boss slams sluggish defending following Stoke City defeat

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was critical about the club’s defence following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium on Saturday.

The Gunners could not make the most of their 77 percent possession with lazy defending combined with a couple of poor refereeing decisions costing them a potential victory.

Following the game, Wenger was not in a sympathising mood with his defenders with Nacho Monreal having misjudged the situation prior to Jese Rodriguez’s maiden goal in English football, he said: “It was frustrating getting caught cold for the goal. Defensively there is no excuse. We gave them a cheap goal. We knew it was important not to make a defensive mistake. But we came out straight after half-time, were too sluggish and paid for it. We gave them too much freedom in the middle. I was not convinced by our central defence today. We were unlucky. I think we scored a regular goal that was given offside and it wasn’t offside. It’s a very easy decision. It’s a difficult defeat to swallow. We had chances. We should have won the game comfortably.” Continue reading “Arsenal boss slams sluggish defending following Stoke City defeat”

Arsenal can land Alexandre Lacazette for £60m this summer

Arsenal will have the opportunity of landing Alexandre Lacazette in the summer with Lyon having given up on keeping hold of their star man.

The France international is lining up a fresh challenge in a new league after proving himself on a seasonal basis for Les Gones. Lacazette has bagged over 20 goals in each of his last four campaigns, and he is now eager to push himself further in a bigger league.

According to The Telegraph, the Gunners could sense a chance of landing the frontman following negotiations between manager Arsene Wenger and Les Gones’ hierarchy in Nice last week. The 26-year-old had previously hinted that Champions League football could be key to his move with Atletico Madrid being his prime destination.

However, with the Spanish club failing to overcome their transfer ban, the striker has had a change of thought as he eyes a lucrative wage package at a club where he would be deemed as a regular in the starting lineup. Lacazette has come through a 37 goal season with his hometown club, and he is said to be frustrated with the lack of progress at Lyon when compared to their rival teams. ARSENAL MISS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOT

Arsenal have lost out in the race to make the final four that would have earned them an ticket to the Champions League next season.

The Gunners went into the last game with the fear of losing their usual ticket but they probably prayed that Liverpool lost or draw.

Liverpool went into the final round of games with a point above Arsene Wenger’s menand they won to seal their spot in Europe. This would be the first time in two decades that Arsenal have failed to qualify for the competition.

The fans were hopeful after Hector Bellerin scored the first goal in the game against Everton at Goodison Park under ten minutes. News filtered in that they had the advantage as Liverpool were yet to score against Boro. The Teessiders were already relegated from the top flight so it was a bit surprising.

However, the Reds got the needed confidence boost when GeorginioWihnaldum scored in the stoppage time of the first half. After the break, Jurgen Klopp and his boys sailed to a comfortable 3-0 rout. Liverpool have crumbled before ‘small teams’ this season so it was legitimate fear that they could throw the game when it mattered the most. Continue reading “ARSENAL MISS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE SPOT”

DUBLIN: ARSENAL BOARD SHOULD FORCE WENGER TO SIGN PLAYERS

There are reports in England that Arsenal long-time manager Arsene Wenger has a contract drawn up by the club already to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium farther.

The French manager has refused to confirm if he would exit Arsenal at the end of the season though he has mentioned that retirement was out of the option.

There is a lot of grievance towards the manager over his perceived stance on the transfer market. Funny enough analyses reveal that Wenger’s expenses on talents in the last two transfer windows are slightly higher than that of their competitors.

Sol Campbell says he believes Wenger will renew his deal with the club at the end of the year while Dion Dublin opines that Wenger should be forced to spend money on players this summer.

“I would say keep hold of Mr Wenger, give him some money to spend. Yes, he’s had it. I know, but give him some money to spend, force him to spend it, make him bring young players in and Arsenal can challenge,” Dublin advised. WENGER NOT INTERESTED IN JOE HART

Arsenal are not going to sign Joe Hart as rumour peddlers claim after head coach Arsene Wenger ruled out the possibility.

Manchester City sent the English player out on loan to Torino after current manager Pep Guardiola bought a new shot stopper in Claudio Bravo from Barcelona.

Hart started the loan move on a shaky note but seems to have settled at the club. With his impressive run of recent he is expected to return to England this summer. The Premier League outfit was linked with a move for the player but Wenger quickly ruled it out.

“No I have three world class goalkeepers and I’m very happy with the three I have,” Wenger responded when asked about Hart. Continue reading “WENGER NOT INTERESTED IN JOE HART”

Arsene Wenger Receives Misconduct Charge from FA for Pushing Fourth Official

Arsene Wenger has earned yet another FA misconduct charge after appearing to push the fourth official in the recent 2-1 win over Burnley.

Arsenal manager was involved in a war of words with the fourth official after being sent to the stands by referee Jon Moss. Wenger was reacting to the referee giving Burnley a penalty in injury time of the game. Burnley went on to score the penalty which put them level 1-1, but they were unable to hold on for much longer as Arsenal themselves were awarded the penalty with seconds remaining in the game. Alexis Sanchez converted from the spot in order to keep Arsenal in the hunt for the Premier League title.

Wenger felt aggrieved that a number of decisions went against Arsenal in the 90 minutes. Admittedly, there were a few decisions that could have resulted in an Arsenal penalty, but Moss turned them down. It is highly likely that the Frenchman will receive a four match ban for his altercation with the referee. WHY SERGE GNABRY LEFT ARSENAL

Serge Gnabry who joined Arsenal in the year 2013 and went on loan to West Bromwich Albion finally ended his contract.

Werder Bremen who were on the chase with bigger clubs, made it known that they had no fear of losing the youngster Serge Gnabry to another team following his impressive start to life at the Weserstadion.

The 21-year old impressed Germany and the fans at the Rio Olympics and decided to leave Arsenal in favor of a return to his homeland ahead of the 2016-17 campaign after he could not make it into the regular first-team football at the Emirates Stadium.

The youngster has in no time become a main target at Werder Bremen and his good awesome performances have seemingly not gone unnoticed with a lot of reports suggesting that the German giants, Bayern Munich have first option to sign the winger.

However, Werder Bremen director Frank Baumann assuredly insisted that Gnabry would not go anywhere else any time soon as he will not want to be benched with his shining form.

Arsenal ends interest in Lacazette

Arsenal who are still in the market for a new striker has reportedly ended their interest in Alexandre Lacazette.

They believe that Alexandre Lacazette is not worth the £42m being asked by Lyon and that they will prefer to pursue other options.

After failing to land Jamie Vardy, it is believed that Arsene Wenger had turned his sight towards the Lyon striker. Unfortunately for him, Lyon is not keen to allow their star player to leave on the cheap. They are prepared to sell the player but if the right offer comes in but at the moment Arsenal is not prepared to pay big money for him. Indeed, this will put Lacazette on par with players such as Mesut Ozil and he clearly is not in the same league at the moment.

Alexandre Lacazette has had an impressive season in France where he scored 23 goals in 43 appearances. His good performance in Ligue 1 has attracted the interest of many European clubs and it is believed that West Ham have also made offers for the players. However, it is believed that Alexandre Lacazette is not keen on joining West Ham and would prefer a much bigger club. Continue reading “Arsenal ends interest in Lacazette”

ARSENAL SET TO EDGE LIVERPOOL IN RACE FOR MARIO GOTZE

English teams Arsenal and Liverpool are in a race to sign Bayern Munich’s talented player Mario Gotze.

The German has been getting fewer first team action with incoming coach Carlo Ancelotti not keen in changing that anytime soon. This has left EPL teams scrambling to add the player to their line up.

The player was believed would join up with his former manager at Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp who is now at Liverpool but the German shut down such rumours when he said he would not be going. The Reds are still adamant and want him to join them but Arsenal are reported to also be keen on landing the player this summer.

Arsenal are in a bid to revamp the team after another failed quest at winning the English Premier League and the UEFA Champions League, despite many attempts. The Sun reveals that Arsene Wenger is an admirer of the player and would be willing to shell out as much as £27million to land the German this summer, so he can contribute to their next attempt. For the first time, this season Arsenal have a fully fit squad

Arsenal, who have lost all chances of winning the Premier League title, this season currently have a fully fit squad.

Indeed, Santi Cazorla and Oxlade-Chamberlain have all rejoined the squad for full training.

Multiple injuries have disrupted Arsenal season, and this has undermined their chances of winning the title this season. In a season where the big teams such as Manchester City and Chelsea have failed to perform at their best level, this was the best opportunity for Arsenal to win the title since 2004.

This lack of results has prompted fans to ask Arsene Wenger to leave the club. Banners have regularly been displayed during Arsenal games as they feel that a change in management will be needed if they want to compete again at the top. For them fourth place is not enough and they want Arsenal to compete for the title.

Jack Wilshere already made his return to the first team on Sunday in the match against Sunderland. Arsenal failed to score a goal in this game, and the match ended 0-0. This result has ended all hopes for the title, and they now have to focus on securing their Champions League place. Continue reading “For the first time, this season Arsenal have a fully fit squad”
